Co-operation between Poland and Denmark during the Danish Presidency in the EU Council
A meeting devoted to the co-operation between Poland and Denmark during the Danish Presidency in the EU Council was held on Tuesday, 10 January 2012. MFA Secretary of State for European Affairs and Economic Policy Mikołaj Dowgielewicz and Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen discussed priorities to be implemented by the government in Copenhagen until June 2012. The ministers also addressed issues that have been handed over to Denmark by the Polish Presidency for further realization, including work on a new EU budget for 2014-2020 as well as the Eastern Partnership. The agenda of the meeting also comprised current European affairs, among other things the state of work on the intergovernmental agreement for introducing a fiscal union.Press Office

Priorities of the Danish Presidency:
1. A responsible Europe: bringing economic stability in the EU by attaining budget stability in individual member states; supporting works on the Stability Pact of the Euro zone; continuing negotiations on the long-term financial perspective; implementing the EU control over national budgets.
2. A dynamic Europe: leading to economic growth on the EU internal market by implementing the Single Market Act; establishing the European Patent Court; striving to create a single market of digital services; concluding trade agreements between the EU and Japan, Canada, India and Tunisia.
3. A green Europe: creating environmentally-friendly job places; acting on sustainable growth in the EU farming, transportation, cohesion and internal market policies; approving a new directive concerning energetic efficiency; adopting the EU strategy for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
4. A safe Europe: improving the safety of EU citizens by preventing cross-border crime; implementing a Common European Asylum System; tightening co-operation within the Schengen area; continuing negotiations on the EU enlargement.
The official handing over of the Presidency from Poland to Denmark by Prime Minister Donald Tusk will be held on 11 January in Copenhagen during the ceremony at the DR Concert Hall.
